Trees for the Future plants trees where they're needed most in Asia, Central America and Africa.

Every day the world loses about 100,000 acres of forest due to streams drying up, soils depleting and lack of adequate fertilization.  Often the weather in these areas is also changing.  Due to this, about one billion people in the world cannot meet their daily nutritional standards.

These communities recognize that they need to plant trees in order to improve their lives.  Communities around the world turn to Trees for the Future for technical knowledge and planting materials so that they can bring degraded lands and struggling farmlands back to sustainable productivity.  Since 1988, Trees for the Future has helped thousands of communities in Central America, Africa and Asia improve their livelihoods and their environment by planting nearly 50 million trees in agroforestry and reforestation projects.

A typical tree planted through the Trees for the Future program takes about 50 pounds of carbon dioxide out of the air every year and converts it to things people can use such as food, shelter and medicine for the residents of the community.
